However, this rush to deploy has created a fundamental disconnect. While authority is being delegated to algorithms at an unprecedented rate, the architecture of accountability remains rooted in a pre-AI paradigm. Traditional organizational charts, with their clear, hierarchical lines of responsibility, were not designed for a world where a software agent can independently approve a credit line, deny an insurance claim, or alter a supply chain forecast in milliseconds.   4. Who has the authority to override the AI’s decision and who has the authority to take the AI offline entirely?
  5. How is the board actively monitoring the performance and risk profile of the organization’s portfolio of autonomous systems?

Frameworks like the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and the 2026 RACI for Acting AI Systems provide the technical blueprints for implementing this law [12, 13]. But the implementation is not a technical exercise. It is an act of leadership. It requires boards and C-suite executives to recognize that in the agentic age, you do not buy AI; you become an AI-driven organization. And the first, most critical step in that transformation is to design an accountability architecture that is as robust, resilient, and auditable as the technology itself. The failure to do so is no longer a strategic option; it is a direct and foreseeable risk to the enterprise.
