George Washington is one of the most famous Founding Fathers in American history, yet what made him stand out as a leader was that he refused to become more than just a civilian after winning independence for America.
In fact, many people thought he would want to be king or president for life since his position meant everything to the success and prosperity of this new country but instead, George resigned from military service soon afterward and returned home so that democracy could prosper with each citizen having their own say about how they wanted things run.
He did not seek to be a King or to stay in office. He decided that Democracy was the most important thing.
